One thing is for certain, if a disaster strikes The Charlotte County American Red Cross will be there to assist with recovery. However, the Red Cross offers more than disaster recovery; we also offer many of the supplies you need to prepare for a possible disaster. Anyone can visit the local chapter and pick up our Hurricane Preparedness Kit check list. While you're here you can also purchase some of the items for your preparedness kit.
One of the best items we have in stock is the "Water Bob." The Water Bob is a device that can sit inside of your bathtub and be filled with water. The Water Bob holds up to 100 gallons of water, keeps it fresh and keeps the water from coming in contact with the surface of the bathtub; which can sometimes be covered with grime or left over chemicals from cleaning agents. For only $30 the Water Bob is certainly a good investment.
We also carry "Heater Meals". There are a variety of meals to choose from including, breakfast, dinner and vegetarian options. These meals are self contained, self heating, do not need to be refrigerated, and have a long shelf life; anywhere between 9 months and 24 months depending on the type of meal it is. What's more is - they taste good!
Of course we also offer supplies that can be added to a hurricane supply kit as well as be used in any emergency. We have a solar powered radio with cell phone charger, auto incident kit that comes with a disposable camera, first aid kits of all types and sizes, and a flashlight that can also be used to cut a seat belt and break glass.
We welcome everyone to come in and purchase these products. When someone buys supplies from Charlotte County American Red Cross, not only will they walk away with preparedness supplies, but they will have also contributed to their local Red Cross Chapter. By supporting the Charlotte County American Red Cross it enables us to provide disater prepardness and disaster recovery services, services to the armed forces as well as enabling us to contiune our efforts in Health and Safety emergency prepardness. The Charlotte County American Red Cross exists because of the generoristy of the community and we thank you.

It's not all disaster response here at the Charlotte County American Red Cross, although that is one of the many ways we help our community. We also find it important to provide everyone with an opportunity to give back to the community not only when disaster strikes, but in their everyday lives as well.

Mouth to snout resuscitation -- a term that might invoke giggles, grins or grimaces from some people but quite frankly it is a method that could possibly save your pet's life. The Red Cross offers a Pet First Aid and CPR course that educates pet owners on techniques to apply during crucial moments of a pet emergency.
